The event begins and ends at the St Germain Community Park, beginning on a blacktopped surface with the balance of the trail off-road. This is a true trail run featuring mostly flat, packed dirt, grass or gravel trail of varying width, winding through scenic woods.
The Freedom 5K Fun Run is held in conjunction with the annual St Germain Independence Day Celebrations. The event has proven to be a resounding success, drawing participants from across the United States and around the world. The race course winds through the beautiful Awassa Trails property, which is owned by the Town of St. Germain. We are proud that we have been able to provide residents and vacationers a fun and healthy way to enjoy the beauty of our Northwoods.
 
Proceeds from the race will be used for developing and maintaining the non-motorized recreational trails in our community, thereby promoting healthier recreational opportunities for everyone.
